In 2013 Sunshine Village Resort suffered extensive damage as a result of the heavy rains and flooded creeks. The existing parking lot, including the exterior lighting was destroyed. As part of a multistage rebuilding plan, Sunshine Village upgraded the lighting in the parking lot from HPS sweeps mounted on wood poles to new LED pole mount luminaires. MP&P scope was to design parking lot lighting, along with new distributions centers.
Summary & Discourse on Design Approach
MP&P worked with Parks Canada to ensure all lighting standards were met. Dark sky friendly luminaires with a lower CCT were chosen to mitigate any light pollution within the park. MP&P coordinated with Fortis to ensure power was restored to the parking lot prior to the 2013 ski season.
